As you may have heard in recent news, a storm of unprecedented strength hit Ireland in late January 2025. On top of the many damages to households and infrastructures, many forests have been severely impacted. The Irish forest-based sector is currently facing with million of cubic meters of wood on the forest floor that would need to be harvested and collected urgently. Given the scale, they are not in possession of the right workforce nor work tools to face the processing of the damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFO would therefore like to ask for CEPF members supports to share their call for assistance from any harvesting companies across Europe that would mobilise their harvesting and forwarding machines to Ireland. There is at least 12 to 18 months guaranteed work available and an estimated 12 million cubic meter of wood to be processed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, would any CEPF member have experience to share about the handling of large scale disasters such as these, IFO would welcome their insights and lessons learnt to try to best address their challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This item and call for support will also be addressed during our CEPF Member Update on Saturday 22nd February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
